• Starting the Game
  • Select the Play Game button on the game’s welcome screen to start the game.
    • Before the first level starts the game explains how to move and fire.
    • Click and hold the instructions screen to start the first stage. This will show the level goal.
    • You then click and hold again or press tab to start active play.
  • The welcome screen also contains Options and Credits buttons.
    • The options button allows you to turn game sounds on or off & switch to full screen play.
    • The credits button mentions the studio name of the game developer.
• Game Controls
  • Desktop
    • Press W or up arrow key to move up.
    • Press S or the down arrow key to move down.
    • Press and hold J to charge up a shot & release to fire.
    • You can also move your mouse cursor while holding in the left click to move vertically.
  • Touchscreen devices
    • Use the on screen controls.
  • Controls & indicators
    • The upper left corner shows your cumulative game score and remaining lives.
    • The top center shows the level number, the level goal, and how many of the goals you have reached thusfar.
    • The upper right corner of the game has a home button.
    • The lower right corner of the game shows how many arrows you have remaining.
• Game Play
  • Shooting
    • When you shoot your arrow it moves straight across the screen.
    • The further the arrow flies the more objects will move while it is in air & the more of a lead you need to give your shot to compensate.
    • When you shoot the arrow does not arc or curve, but shoots directly across the screen from left to right.
      • Levels do not have a timer, so it makes sense to time your shots to where you have a high probability of success.
      • You can time your shots at nearby objects such that they are also likely to hit a further away object by waiting until both are roughly aligned.
    • Movement speed
      • Each object you are shooting at moves at a different speed.
      • Your arrow generally moves more slowly than the balloons you are aiming at.
    • Wraparound
      • If your arrow misses it disappears when it touches the other side of the screen.
      • The objects you are aiming at which move off screen reappear once again on the other side of the screen if they go off screen.
        • Balloons moving from bottom to top reappear at the bottom of the screen.
        • Bats that move offscreen left reappear at the right side of the screen.
  • Levels
    • This game has 10 stages.
    • The first is an easy target practice with immobile targets, but subsequent levels have you aiming at moving objects including balloons & bats.
    • The second and third stages have you shoot moving red balloons. On the third stage you have to time your shots so that you hit multiple balloons with a single arrow because you have to clear 15 balloons with 15 arrows. Either you hit a multi-shot or you can miss no shots.
    • The fourth stage has you hit 5 fast-moving yellow balloons on a screen with red balloons. If your arrow touches a red balloon it stops moving. You are given 7 arrows to complete the level.
    • The fifth stage has you hit 5 green balloons on a screen with red balloons. The green balloons move in random directions like a spaceship might. You are given 10 arrows to complete the level.
    • The sixth stage has you hit bats which are flying at you from right to left.
      • The bats primarily move horizontally, but move up and down gently as they move toward you.
      • When the bats are close to you they swoop at you fast.
      • If you evade them they will appear again on the right side of the screen.
      • The bats take multiple hits to defeat.
    • The first couple levels of the game are easy but the difficulty level ramps quickly thereafter. In later levels the game also has spinning blades.
  • Scoring
    • Your game score is cumulative across all stages.
    • If you have arrows remaining when you complete a level each remaining arrow is worth 500 points.
    • On the first stage you hit bullseyes, with each arrow being worth 250 to 1,250 with each target being worth 250 more than the prior target.
    • Ordinary red balloons are worth 350 points each, but if you can hit multiple balloons with a single arrow then there is a score multiplier where the second balloon is worth 700, the third balloon is worth 1,050, and the fourth balloon is worth 1,500.
    • The orange balloons on stage 4 start at 750 points & increase in value by 750 points each for each subsequent one you hit.
  • Dying
    • You die if you run out of lives (e.g. get hit by too many bats) or you run out of arrows before reaching the level goal.
    • When you die the game ends & you must start back on the first level.
