• Starting the Game
  • After the game loads click on the load screen to bring up the welcome screen.
  • Click on the welcome screen to bring up the level select screen.
    • Levels are unlocked sequentially.
    • Your web browser automatically saves your game progress.
  • The welcome screen has buttons for music control, sound control, and home in the upper right corner.

    • Use the arrow keys to move around the water.
    • Press the left shift key to swim faster, or boost.
    • Press the spacebar to eat bait, or time your interactions with bait types.
  • Touchscreen devices
    • This game was designed primarily for play on desktop devices.
  • Controls & indicators
    • The upper right corner has buttons for music control, sound control, and returning home.
    • Your health is shown in the lower left corner of the screen.
    • The number of stars you collected and the level goal are shown bottom center.
    • The lower right corner shows your remaining play time.
    • The level select screen shows locked levels in blue, unlocked levels in green, and shows a silver or gold star near any level you have beat.
• Game Play
  • Basics
    • This is a fishing game where you play as the fish.
    • Each time you successfully eat bait from a hook a star appears, which you can collect.
    • Collect enough stars to earn a good rating on each level, but watch out for hazards.
  • Types of Bait
    • Worms – tap at the right time when the moving indicator is aligned with the stationary indicator.
    • Boots – tap rapidly to take the boot off the hook.
    • Stars – tap whenever a star is in the middle. After collecting 6 stars you’ll get 2 game stars for the level appearing above you.
    • Bombs – align 3 circular indicators in the direction shown. After aligning all 3 (before the bomb blows up) you’ll get 2 game stars for the level appearing above you.
  • Hazards
    • Swordfish – they swim horizontally from side to side. Each point of loses a heart container.
    • Jellyfish – these swim largely in place, but shock you if you run into them. Getting shocked costs you both time and health.
    • Toxic bubbles – these rise from the bottom. If they run into you then you lose health.
    • Bombs – if you catch them too late they’ll blow up.
  • Levels
    • This game has 14 levels which are unlocked sequentially.
      • You can go back and replay previously beat levels at any time to try to earn a better rating on them.
      • After beating all 14 stages you will unlock the bonus level as well. You do not need to earn a gold rating on the regular levels to unlock the bonus level.
    • Winning vs losing
      • You beat a level and get a gold star by collecting the number of stars shown before the timer runs out.
      • You can beat a level while getting a lower rating if you collect most of the stars but do not reach the goal by the time the timer runs out.
      • You lose a level if you run out of health.
        • As long as you do not get hit further your health restores over time as you eat bait and collect stars.
      • This game offers unlimited continues, starting you at the beginning of the level you failed.
  • Tips
    • Hazards
      • As you advance through the game you face new hazards, then a mix of hazards.
      • Try to play toward the center of the screen when possible to avoid swordfish hitting you from the edges.
      • Try not to play to close to the bottom when possible, as the toxic bubbles shoot up from the bottom of the screen.
      • Take circuitous routes around the jellyfish as needed, as they’ll stun you if you get too close.
      • If you see a swordfish aligned with a bait you can go higher or lower temporarily until it es and then get back to the bait.
    • Bait preference
      • Bait type
        • The star is the best bait to collect when you have a mix of choices because it gives you two stars each time you complete it.
        • The bomb should only be collected if you have near full health and collect it immediately, because you’ll lose health if you get to it too late and it explodes on you.
        • If you have low health the boot is far better to grab than the worm as you need to tap rapidly to collect the boot but do not need to have precisely timed taps.
      • Bait location
        • It is best to get bait close to the surface of the water as you can collect the star faster.
        • Typically you should grab the star after grabbing each bait, but if there is another bait close by or slightly below sometimes you can grab the second bait before grabbing the star from the first bait.
