  • Basic rules
    • The game immediately starts the moment it loads.
      • Should you want to wait a little longer before beginning, select the pause button to stop the game momentarily.
      • Otherwise, dive right in.
    • Most of the action takes place in the playing area, which consists of a grid that is 10 units wide and 19 units tall.
      • Pieces will start falling from the top of the playing area.
      • A washed out copy of the falling piece will appear at the bottom of the screen. This will serve as a guide to help you place the piece where you want it.
      • Guide the piece slowly or immediately drop it into the bottoms of the playing area.
      • See if you can stack the pieces without forming any gaps.
    • Clear the pieces by forming complete lines without any gaps between them.
      • You can create up to 4 lines all at once.
      • You can also create up to 3 non-contiguous lines in a single move.
    • Don’t let the stack reach the top of the playing area.
  • Tracking and holding pieces
    • Tracking
      • The next 2 pieces are shown on the left side of the screen.
      • The bottom piece is the one that will immediately follow the piece you are currently laying down.
    • Holding
      • You start with a random piece on the holding area to the right.
      • To save a piece, select the holding area.
        • It will swap it out with the one already held.
        • The new piece will be in the same spot down as the piece it substituted.
      • Holding pieces is a good way to do one of the following actions:
        • Replace a bad piece to a better one.
        • Save a critical piece (line pieces especially) for a later time.
  • Scoring
    • Your score is based on the number of lines you clear.
    • Each line you clear is worth 1,000 points.
    • Clearing one line after another grants you a multiplier bonus.
      • The next line you clear will receive a 2x multiplier bonus.
      • Clear several lines consecutively to get larger bonuses.
