• Starting the Game
  • Click on the yellow start button to start the game.
  • The welcome screen also has buttons offering instructions & your game play stats.
    • The instructions button will tell you how to play the game.
    • The stats button will reveal high scores, number of crosses, chicken deaths, close calls and longest streaks. Click the screen again to return to the start screen.

  • Keyboard
    • Use your arrow keys to move the chickens across the road.
  • Touchscreen
    • Use your finger like a mouse.
  • The computer automatically selects each chicken for you.
    • Keep crossing the road with each subsequent chicken until all chickens are safely across.
    • If you are uncertain which chicken is active you can move up or down before crossing the road to identify your chicken.
• Scoring
  • Each chicken which makes it across the road is worth points. The faster you cross the more points you earn.
  • Feathers
    • Feathers make you move faster.
    • You can score 150 bonus points by getting a feather.
  • Close calls
    • If you almost get hit by a truck but manage to jump onto a log you can get a 200 point close call bonus.
• Strategy
  • Give yourself time to react.
    • If you cross near the edge of the screen where vehicles enter you will have little time to react.
    • If you cross in the vertical middle of the road you will have time to react in either direction.
    • You can cross the first side of the road near the bottom of the screen, ride the the stream up toward the middle or top & then jump across to move through the right side of the highway from the middle or top portion of the screen. This maximizes your reaction time in both directions.
  • Give yourself somewhere to go.
    • If there are no logs on your side of the stream wait until some appear before you cross.
    • There is no space between the road where you get hit and the water where you can drown.
  • Avoid the trucks.
    • This advice sounds obvious, but there are many ways to get hit as trucks can go various speeds while moving straight, swerving toward you, or swerving away from you.
    • You also die if you run into the side of them.
    • If the screen and your movement start to slow that means you are in grave danger of getting hit. Be prepared to hold the up or down arrow key while also moving swiftly left or right away from danger.
  • You score bonus points for going straight across the road.
    • You do not get this bonus if you take an extended time to cross.
    • You can move up or down before entering the road and still get the point benefit. You can also move forward or backward and still get the benefit.
    • If the log moves your vertical position in the game that does not count against you. It is still considered straight across.
  • Get the feather.
    • Feathers make you move faster, which makes it easier to avoid a fast oncoming vehicle.
    • They also make it easier for you to accidentally run into another vehicle, so run with caution!
  • Streaks
    • This game awards bonus points for streaks of good performance.
    • Each additional direct road cross is worth additional points.
