  • Matching
    • Selected tiles show a yellow border around them after you select them.
    • Identical tiles can be matched under any of the following scenarios:
      • the tiles are directly adjacent
      • the tiles can be connected with a direct vertical or horizontal line which does not through any other tiles
      • the tiles can be connected with a line that turns at 90 degrees once or twice without ing through any other tiles
    • Almost all tile matches must be identical. The two exceptions to this rule are season and flower tiles.
      • Any flower tile can be matched with any flowers.
      • Any season tile can be matched with any seasons.
  • Levels
    • This game has 30 levels which are unlocked sequentially.
      • You can go back and replay previously beat levels to try to earn a higher score on them.
    • Each level has a unique board layout and level timer.
      • The first stage gives you 24 seconds to make 6 pairs out of 12 tiles.
      • Board layouts and level timers tend to grow more complex as you advance through the game.
      • The fifth stage gives you 1:12 to make 18 pairs out of 36 tiles.
    • Some Mahjong Connect games fill tiles in a particular direction as you make pairs.
      • This game does not fill in the board in any direction.
    • If you do not beat a level on time you can choose to try again, or end the game.
      • If you select end game you can submit your high score, but it then erases your game progress.

  • Scoring
    • Each pair of tiles you remove is worth 50 points.
    • Chain bonus
      • You can activate a chain bonus by removing subsequent tiles before the first tile pair is removed.
      • The more consecutive pairs you make in a chain the higher the bonus multiplier.
      • By matching tile pairs which have some distance between them you give yourself more time to find the next match while keeping the chain bonus alive.
    • Each second you have remaining when you beat a level is worth 30 points.
    • Using either a hint or a shuffle costs 100 points.
    • Your score is cumulative across levels.
