How to Play ev5g

Using a limited number of arrows defeat all the dragons on each stage. Your arrows also can be used to break crates and to help push you around the level to get a better shot angle. Avoid running into spikes or getting hit by a deflected arrow bouncing off a yellow box.

      • Aiming with the button in the lower left while moving is exceptionally hard, making this game easier to beat on desktop computers with an attached mouse and keyboard.

  • Game Play
    • Basics
      • This is a cute and challenging archery game where you shoot arrows as a means of propulsion, and to destroy things like crates blocking your path or line of fire & defeating enemy dragons.
      • You have to avoid bumping into spikes along the journey.
      • On each stage you are given a limited number of arrows to work with.
        • Some stages give you far more arrows than needed to clear the level.
        • Some stages barely give you enough to beat the level even if you play almost perfectly.
        • After the first 5 or 6 stages (which are rather easy) you can use the arrow count for the stage as a rough indicator of just how challenging the level will be, with levels that have more arrows being harder.
    • Features
      • Brown crates – you can destroy crates by hitting them with an arrow.
        • In some cases you can also bounce into them or hit a they are standing on to knock them over.
      • Blue crates – these are similar to brown crates except that they do not require any and float in space until you hit them.
      • Yellow boxes – these can not be defeated, but reflect your arrows back at you.
        • If you are hit by a deflected arrow you die.
      • Spikes – touching them directly leads to an instant death.
      • Dragons – each dragon must be defeated to beat a stage.
        • You can stand on dragons or bump into them without getting hurt.
      • Arrows – they typically can only take out one item or enemy at a time & stick & disappear if they run into a wall. There are 2 minor exceptions to this rule:
        • If you hit the corner of two crates that can in some cases take out both crates with a single arrow.
        • Hitting yellow boxes will lead to the arrow bouncing back at you.
    • Levels
      • This game has 25 stages which are unlocked sequentially.
        • You can go back to previously completed levels to replay them at any time.
      • Winning vs losing
        • You beat a level by hitting all the dragons with arrows & not bumping into any spikes.
        • You lose a level by hitting into spikes.
        • If you run out of arrows you can press the restart button in the upper right to load the level again.
        • This game offers unlimited continues, starting you at the beginning of any failed level.
    • Tips
      • Crates
        • If you aim perfectly and hit the corner of crates you can shoot 2 of them with a single arrow.
          • It is easiest to aim when you are standing still.
        • If you have to use an arrow to climb over a crate you are often better off using that arrow to shoot the crate and clear it out.
          • That said, in some cases it makes sense to leave some crates in place as a block to protect you from running into spikes or prevent you from being in the wrong position.
      • Dragons
        • On some stages the order you defeat dragons in matters greatly in of efficiently using your arrows.
        • It is typically easier to shoot downward than to shoot upward, particularly if you have something that stops your horizontal movement, or if the ground below does not have spikes on it.
          • This can mean trying to target higher enemies then moving lower can be a winning play if the enemies are split across different sides of the screen.
        • Sometimes it is helpful to keep a dragon around rather than to spend an extra arrow on it early.
          • On stage 23 you can take out the blue crates and let the dinosaurs fall, then climb to be above the dinosaurs and shoot them with a downward shot to help you get up to the remaining dinosaurs on the sides up top.
        • When the dragon dies you still have to live another second or two to beat the stage.
          • If your character runs into spikes before the win is recorded the level will be considered a loss & you will have to play it again.
      • Learning curve
        • The learning curve on this game is steep after the first 40%.
        • Some levels are quite hard, including: 11, 12, 15, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, and 25.
      • Movements
        • Lateral – when moving side to side through narrow ageways it can make sense to fire off to the side and only slightly down rather than mostly down, so most of your movement is across.
          • If the age is narrow and your head hits the ceiling you can bounce down so fast it is hard to shoot again.
          • Be careful not to move to the side too fast and hit a wall that causes you to bounce back and lose your momentum while throwing your aim off.
          • When you want to fall off a platform and have some horizontal momentum it can help to shoot down and the opposite direction you move so that you only start with a bit of lateral momentum from hitting the edge of the platform and spinning off.
        • Vertical – when moving vertically you fall back down quickly, so it helps to fire rather rapidly if you need to climb high.
          • Try to get your horizontal positioning sorted early so that you can focus on when to move to the side at the end while in place.
  • Target Audience
    • The game is suited for players who like challenging archery games.
    • The game has no adult themed content.
